What is Roof Cleaning & Moss Removal in Bournemouth & Poole?

A roof is the one surface where blasting it with high pressure does more harm than good. Force water up under the tiles or fire it at the wrong angle and you can lift them, crack them, or push damp into the loft. So we do not do that. We soft wash a roof instead.
Soft washing means low pressure and the right treatment doing the work, not brute force. We clear the moss, the dirt and the green growth off the tiles gently, then put a biocide treatment over the top. That treatment is what keeps the moss from coming straight back, which a one-off blast never does.
The method is decided before we get to the job, off the photos you send us. We look at the type of tile, the pitch and the access, and work out the safest way to clean it. If something looks like it cannot be cleaned safely, we will tell you straight rather than risk your roof.
We will be honest with you: roof work is newer to us than driveways and patios. So we would rather you enquire and we come and look properly than promise you something off the back of a photo and get it wrong. Every job is fully insured with £1 million public liability, we treat every property as if it were our own, and you only pay once it is done and you are happy with it.

How It Works
Look it over and plan the safe clean
We start from the photos you send us, then come and look properly. We check the type of tile, the pitch and how we can reach it safely. The method is worked out before any water goes near the roof, so we know it can be cleaned without doing any harm.
Soft wash off the moss and growth
We soft wash the roof with low pressure to clear the moss, the dirt and the green growth. No blasting, no firing water up under the tiles. It takes more care than a quick blast, but it is the only way to clean a roof without risking it.
Treat it to keep the moss off
Once it is clear we put a biocide treatment over the roof. That is the step that keeps the moss from coming straight back. A clean on its own does not last. The treatment is what makes it hold.
Clear up and check it over
We gather up any debris that has come down, bag it and dispose of it properly, and leave little to no mess behind. Then we have a last look over the roof to make sure it is done right. You only pay once it is finished and you are happy.
We understand the concerns
Here's what we hear from clients before they book, and how we put each one right.
Worried the pressure will damage your tiles?
That is the right thing to worry about on a roof. High pressure can lift tiles, crack them, or push water in where it should not go. That is exactly why we soft wash a roof rather than blast it. Low pressure and the right treatment do the work, so nothing gets damaged.
Worried the moss will just come back?
A one-off blast clears it for a bit and then it returns. We clear the moss first, then put a biocide treatment over the roof. That treatment is what keeps the moss off for a lot longer instead of letting it grow straight back.
Not sure about trusting a newer firm with your roof?
That is fair, it is your roof. We will be honest about it: roof work is newer to us than the rest of what we do, so we would rather come and look properly than promise something off a photo. Every job is fully insured with £1 million public liability, and you only pay once it is done.

Kain did our patio in Kinson and it came up like new. He didn't rush it, cleaned up after himself, and the price was exactly what he said. Couldn't recommend him more.

Really happy with the work. He talked me through what he was doing and why, and left everything spotless. Buzzing with how it turned out.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does roof cleaning cost?
We charge per m². The soft wash clean is £3.50/m² and the moss treatment over the top is £2/m². A roof depends a lot on its pitch and how it can be reached, so send us a photo and we will confirm the exact price before any work starts. You only pay once it is done.
Do you pressure wash the roof?
No. A roof gets a soft wash, not high pressure. Blasting a roof can lift or crack the tiles and push water in where it should not go. So we use low pressure and the right treatment to clear the moss and growth without risking the tiles.
What time of year is best to clean a roof?
Most of the year is fine. Moss tends to build up over the damp autumn and winter, so a lot of people get it done in spring or summer when it is settled and dry. If yours is bad, there is no need to wait. Send us a photo whenever and we will let you know what is involved.
Will the moss come back after the roof is cleaned?
A clean on its own will not hold, the moss comes back. That is why we treat the roof with a biocide after the clean. The treatment is what keeps the moss off for a lot longer rather than letting it grow straight back.
How do I get my roof cleaned?
Send us a photo of your roof to start with. We will look at the tile, the pitch and the access, then come and look properly before we quote. Because roof work is newer for us, we would rather you enquire and we assess it in person than promise something off a photo and get it wrong.
Do you cover Poole as well as Bournemouth?
Yes. We cover Bournemouth, Poole and the towns around them, including Christchurch, Ferndown, Wimborne and more. If you are not sure we reach you, send us your postcode and we will let you know.
