What is Patio Cleaning in Bournemouth & Poole?

A patio is where you actually sit out, so when it goes green and slippery it is the first thing you notice. A lot of people will turn up, pressure wash it and leave. We do it properly, especially on a patio.
The stone matters here more than on a drive. Indian sandstone, limestone, porcelain and natural stone are softer than block paving, and too much pressure can pit them or strip the surface. So the first thing we do is work out what you have got. We decide the method off the photos and m² you send us, before we even get to the job, so nothing is left to chance on the day.
Hard wearing slabs like concrete and block paving can take the rotary cleaner for an even finish. Softer natural stone gets a soft wash instead, lower pressure and the right approach, so it comes up clean without the surface getting damaged. If a slab looks like the pressure could damage it, we will soft wash it or tell you straight rather than risk it. We would sooner say we cannot get the full clean than ruin your stone.
Then we get to work. We lift the top layer of green and grime, work into the joints and edges, then gather the debris and bag it up to dispose of properly. We weigh up the drainage as we go so you are not left with puddles everywhere. Where the slabs have sanded joints, we re-sand them after with kiln-dried sand so they lock back together and the weeds have nowhere to take hold.
You do not have to wait for a certain time of year either. A patio can be cleaned any month. Spring and autumn are popular, but we work all year round, so if it has gone green over winter there is no need to put up with it until summer.
We treat every property as if it were our own, leave little to no mess, and you only pay once the job is done.

How It Works
Measure up and decide the method
It starts before we get there. From your photos and m² we work out what stone you have got and how we are going to clean it. Soft natural stone gets a soft wash, hard slabs get the rotary cleaner. That call is made up front so nothing is rushed on the day.
Set up and weigh up drainage
We arrive with the van already packed. The water goes on to fill, then the pressure washer comes out. First we weigh up the drainage so you are not left with puddles everywhere, then we get started.
Clean, matched to your stone
We lift the top layer of green and grime and work into the joints and edges. Hard slabs get the rotary cleaner for an even finish. Softer stone gets the lower pressure of a soft wash so it is not damaged. We take real care over stubborn stains and work at them until they lift.
Clear the debris, re-sand and final rinse
We gather the dirt and debris, bag it up and dispose of it properly. Where the slabs have sanded joints we brush kiln-dried sand back in so they lock together and the weeds cannot get a hold. Then we give it a final rinse, treat it, and leave it clean and tidy. You only pay once it is done.
We understand the concerns
Here's what we hear from clients before they book, and how we put each one right.
Worried the pressure will damage your sandstone?
A fair worry. Natural stone like Indian sandstone, limestone and porcelain is softer than block paving, and too much pressure can pit it. We match the method to your stone and work it out from your photos before we arrive. Soft stone gets a soft wash. If we think the pressure could damage a slab, we will soft wash it or tell you straight rather than risk it.
Worried it will just come back green?
A clean on its own will not hold. We treat the surface after the clean and re-sand the joints where the slabs have them, and that comes with a weed-free guarantee for 6 to 12 months. Weeds and algae do return eventually, so we make sure it stays clear for as long as we can.
Wondering if it is worth paying for, or just doing it yourself?
You can hire a washer and have a go, but a domestic one will not shift ingrained algae and it is easy to damage soft stone or leave it striped. We clean it properly, treat it after and re-sand the joints, and every job is fully insured with £1 million public liability. You only pay once it is done and you are happy with it.

Kain did our patio in Kinson and it came up like new. There were rust stains I thought were there for good and he conquered the lot. Didn't rush it, cleaned up after himself, and the price was exactly what he said. Buzzing with it.
Andy
Parkstone
Really happy with the work. He talked me through what he was doing and why, matched the pressure to the stone, and left everything spotless.
Gayna
Kinson
Brought our tired patio back to life. Careful, honest and you can tell he actually cares about doing it properly rather than just getting it done.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does patio cleaning cost?
We charge per m². Cleaning is £3.50/m², re-sanding the joints is £2/m², and an optional seal is £3/m². Send us a photo of your patio and your rough size and we will give you the exact price before we come out. You only pay once it is done.
What month is best to clean a patio?
Any month works, in all honesty. Spring and autumn are the popular times, but we clean patios all year round. If yours has gone green over winter there is no need to put up with it until summer. Whenever it has started to bother you is a good time.
Is it worth paying for, or should I just do it myself?
You can hire a washer and have a go, but a domestic one struggles with ingrained algae, and it is easy to damage soft stone or leave it striped. We clean it properly, treat it after so it stays clear for longer, and re-sand the joints. Every job is fully insured and you only pay once you are happy, so there is no risk to you.
Will the pressure damage my Indian sandstone or natural stone?
Not the way we do it. Natural stone is softer than block paving, so we do not just blast it. We work out what you have got from your photos and soft wash the delicate stone at lower pressure. If we think the pressure could damage a slab, we will soft wash it or tell you straight rather than risk it.
How long does a patio clean take?
Most patios are done in a few hours, give or take. It depends on the size, the stone and how green or stained it has gone. Once we have seen your photos we can tell you roughly how long yours will take.
Will the weeds and moss come back after cleaning?
They do return eventually, in all honesty. But we treat the surface after the clean and re-sand the joints where the slabs have them, which keeps the weeds and moss out for a lot longer. That comes with a weed-free guarantee of 6 to 12 months.
